Eco-Adventures Overview

Welcome to the North Seal River watershed, home to Northern Manitoba’s most remote and virtually last untouched areas. It’s located in the ‘land of little sticks’, just 60 miles from the Nunavut border, 200 miles from the northernmost road and only accessible by airplane. The North Seal is a unique mix of diverse habitat, land and water in Canada’s Sub-Boreal transitional forest. It’s also Manitoba’s prime location for Sand Eskers – long, dune-like formations that are left overs from the ice age glacial melt including the historic Robertson Esker which is 80 mile long (129 km) and towers stories above the landscape.

Using Ganglers’ lodge as your base camp, you can spend a day of incredible trophy fishing with a classic Canadian shore lunch; learn to fly fish; hike, ride an ATV or mountain bike on an esker; capture amazing photographs. You can also enjoy incredible wildlife viewing; take a floatplane ride on a vintage DeHavilland Beaver; hike, mountain bike, canoe or kayak through our lands and waters. You can walk in the footsteps of ancient travelers and explorers and learn about local Cree and Dene cultures with a tour of their historic archeological sites. And lastly, you can choose among several exciting optional side trips including observing the incredible Barren Grounds Caribou migration just 60 miles north (97km) of the lodge or travel to Churchill, Manitoba for the viewing of Beluga whales and polar bears.

Gangler’s North Seal River Lodge is renowned in fishing and hunting circles as one of the continent’s top destinations. It’s soon to be equally well regarded for its eco-adventures,  with the opportunities to explore the relatively untouched geological and cultural history of the area’s eskers, to see a variety of wildlife, including bears, wolves, moose and caribou, or to tour the region via mountain bike or kayak. Throw in the chance to catch great numbers of bragging-sized pike, lake trout, grayling and walleye (plus shore lunch!), and you’ve got a virtually unparalleled quintessentially Canadian wilderness experience.
